Common features: sensor, functionality and additional features

Despite the external differences of the three cameras, they received a similar functional arsenal and advanced shooting capabilities. Therefore, they have more common characteristics than it might seem at first glance. First of all, it is worth noting that all models have a 1-inch high-sensitivity CMOS sensor with a resolution of 20.2 MP, which provides optimal photo performance in the sensitivity range of ISO 125 – ISO 12 800. In addition, the new processor uses a DIGIC 6 image processor with a proprietary Canon HS system, capable of delivering stunning photo and video quality even in low light conditions.

Another distinguishing feature of these models is the ability to record video in a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels with a frequency of up to 60 frames / s in progressive scan. For the exchange of photos and videos, there are Wi-Fi and NFC modules that will allow you to transfer the footage to a smartphone or tablet running Android and iOS, implement backup to your computer and even remote control in real time. And all this without wires and additional troubles.

As befits advanced solutions, there are many shooting modes, including for amateur astronomers – Star Mode will provide more accurate focusing, Star Trails will create a vivid picture with the tails of stars, and Star Time-Lapse Movie will allow you to shoot an unrivaled video clip of the movement of stars.

Of course, in addition to star modes, there is complete exposure control from automatic to fully manual control, as well as the ability to shoot photos in uncompressed RAW format for subsequent processing on a computer. In addition, the cameras are equipped with a built-in neutral density filter to enhance contrast in vivid scenes.

Another nice feature of the G9 X, G5 X and G3 X is a good set of interfaces, including HDMI and the ability to charge using an external adapter or a conventional power supply with a USB port with a microUSB cable, so the cameras can be charged from the laptop port or regular portable charging, which you can also always keep on hand.

PowerShot G9 X

The novelty is the most compact, thin and light among the presented models, so it can become a constant companion of the photographer, along with a smartphone or tablet. Its metal case looks just amazing, you do not want to hide the camera, but rather, will show to friends.

Despite its small size, it uses a bright lens with 3x optical zoom, aperture F2.0-F4.9 and a focal length of 28-84 mm. It is complemented by an optical stabilization system that will allow you to shoot with your hands even in poor lighting conditions.

The model is equipped with a 3-inch touch screen, which, thanks to an updated user interface, allows you to quickly change settings and focus on the desired object. There is also a ring on the lens, which will help to change some settings, and also implements manual focus. For shooting fast-moving objects, from children’s parties to sports, the PowerShot G9 X can shoot a series of photos at 6 frames / s, so you don’t miss the right moment. At the same time, the autofocus system works almost instantly – it will take about 0.13 s to fix the subject and take a photo.

PowerShot G5 X

This camera is not as tiny as the G9 X, but compact enough to always carry it with you. But the classic black case with chopped edges has a large number of controls. The kit includes separate wheels for selecting a mode and exposure compensation, control dials on the front and back panels, as well as a lens ring, which can be customized as you wish. In addition, there is a built-in flash and a hot shoe for connecting all kinds of compatible accessories. In addition to mini HDMI and microUSB ports, there is also a 3.5 mm jack for using a compatible wired remote control.

A distinctive feature of the camera was the presence of an integrated digital viewfinder with an OLED screen, which has a resolution of 2.36 million pixels. It will help you quickly and conveniently build a frame, as well as keep track of moving objects. G5 X is equipped with a “bright” lens with an aperture of F1.8 – F2.8 with 4.2x optical zoom (focal length 24-100 mm). Thanks to the 9-blade aperture, which provides beautiful background blur effects, and the optical stabilization system, which allows you to take photos and videos with your hands in a wide range of shooting conditions, the camera will allow you to take a photo or video as they see it in perfect quality in dark Times of Day.

In addition, the model is equipped with a 3-inch touch screen with the ability to rotate. It will provide not only easier control of the camera, but also allow you to shoot photos from different angles. And during transportation, the display will be protected from accidental scratches.
