Amsterdam, September 16, 2004. Nikon, the world leader in film and digital cameras, has announced the release of its new Nikon COOLPIX 8400 camera (www.europe-nikon.com), a high-quality compact digital camera equipped with an 8 million-pixel sensor having a wide range of focal lengths (24-85 mm equivalent for 35 mm film cameras), a quick autofocus system and a huge number of different functions. Fujifilm X-T30 is a mirrorless camera with an X-Trans CMOS IV sensor of APS-C format, with a resolution of 26.1 megapixels and an image processor X Processor 4. Exactly the same bunch we saw in the flagship X-T3 camera released at the end of last year . At the same time, the manufacturer positions the novelty as a camera for a wide range of users: the main idea is to provide the photographer with maximum flagship capabilities while maintaining a small size.
The camera may be interesting for both beginner amateur photographers who are not yet familiar with all the intricacies of manual settings and processing of photographs, and experienced photographers who, for example, are looking for a lightweight and compact travel tool. X-T30 shows a rather good balance between “serious” and “entertaining,” but, no matter which side you approach it with, it promises a high-quality result. Continue reading
According to a legend born in the bowels of Sony, the first amateur analog video camera was created in 1980. However, the real consumer war begins in 1985, when Sony launches a video film of the analog standard Video 8, and the JVC introduces the VHS-C analog format – the “compact” version of the VHS analog format. The consumer gets access to the equipment connecting in one case both the camera and the recorder-recorder. But more recently, video lovers walked with two separate “boxes”: one shot, and the other recorded the image. So there was a camcorder (camera & recorder).
The very first camcorders were analog, and the image quality was noticeably worse than what we used to see on the TV screen. In television in England, Australia and New Zealand, as well as in some countries of Western Europe, the PAL color television standard is adopted, which forms a television image of 625 horizontal lines. Now let’s talk about some parameters of digital video cameras that can still be used as selection criteria.
Number of CCD
Perhaps this is the parameter, at a glance at which two or three years ago, the class of a video camera immediately became clear. Now, the mere fact of having three CCDs in an amateur camcorder says almost nothing. For cameras with three matrices, using a special prism, the image is divided into three primary colors, and each color is transmitted to its own CCD matrix. It is clear that in cameras with three CCDs in most cases an optical stabilizer is used. Only in recent years, Panasonic began to produce 3-CCD cameras with electronic stabilizer, then this “initiative” was picked up by Sony. Continue reading
You may find the question in the headline strange, but it is by no means random. Now everything is mixed up in the established notions of what is good and what is bad in relation to video cameras.
And what, in fact, is a digital video camera?
The first digital video cameras were practically no different from analog ones – just the video was compressed in DV format and recorded on tape already in digital form, the entire camera part was used as usual – the same as in old video cameras.
This made it possible to kill immediately a flock of birds with one stone, since recording in a digital form on a tape eliminated tape noise, hardware compression in digital format made it possible to get rid of complicated and expensive video capture and digitization boards. Continue reading
